Our Story
It was the year 2018. Bayli and Rom were both in the middle of their junior years at UT, and neither had a clue the other existed yet. Rom’s fraternity, Zeta Beta Tau, had their annual Pat O’s date event at the San Antonio River Walk coming up, and Rom was in search of a date to bring to this outing, which was an iconic weekend for Jewish longhorns. Rom’s roommate at the time happened to be dating this girl named Emma, who also happened to be Bayli’s good friend since freshman year. Rom, not looking for any sort of romantic relationship, asked her if she had any friends that were chill and fun and who could be a good vibe all weekend long. The person who came to mind was Bayli. Despite nearly declining the invitation initially because she was stressed out studying for the MCAT, Bayli ultimately said what the hell and agreed to be Rom’s date for the weekend, thinking he was just some guy who she’d spend the weekend with and then never see again. Unexpectedly, from the moment Bayli showed up at Rom’s apartment to carpool from West Campus to San Antonio, the two instantly hit it off. The whole weekend they laughed and danced, shared each others favorite songs, ate junk food, and just vibed. Their first date ended at the Alamo, which became a staple (along with the greater San Antonio area) in their relationship. From that weekend onward, Bayli and Rom never stopped hanging out together, and they’ve been best friends ever since…Sitting perched on the hill at Laguna Gloria (the couple’s wedding venue) is the Villa of Clara Driscoll, known for her contributions in preserving the Alamo. Bayli and Rom are thrilled and honored to be married at a site with such strong ties to their fateful first date in the city in which they fell further in love and can’t wait to celebrate such a priceless, full-circle moment with their family and friends.
